Clean Air Day

June 8, 2022

Blue Skies Bicycle Ride

Today is Clean Air Day, an annual, international day to recognize how important good air quality is to our health, our environment, and the economy. The 2022 international Clean Air Day focus is on air quality in a changing climate. Some air pollutants, such as car emissions, contribute to climate change. We can all help to reduce these air pollutants by taking public transit or choosing active transportation, such as biking and walking.

To recognize and celebrate Clean Air Day, this year the Parkland Airshed Management Zone (PAMZ) in partnership with Kerry Wood Nature Centre are hosting their first ever Blue Skies Bicycle Ride on Sunday, June 12 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Join in the fun by coming out to decorate your bicycle and showing off your creativity in one of the bicycle parades, which will be happening at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. You can decorate your bicycle in advance or at the event with the largely recycled decorations provided. There will be information booths to check out as well!

“We are excited to be celebrating Clean Air Day with a weekend fun, family friendly, Blue Skies Bicycle Ride event. Bicycles are a great active transportation option that reduce emissions, thus contributing to cleaner air” said Executive Director, Kevin Warren.
